  Okay, since you said this I haven't noticed any problems with sunpal7
  (except that it is currently off-line), but your other system linuxpal
  <rpiw4n3f> continues to take 8 minutes to answer most (or all?)
  queries!

I did restart it not that long ago.  9m cpu time in 4 days seems ok.  39
file descriptors, of which 24 are tcp connections to self/other servers.

the log has lines like:
