Folks:
The original plan for v1.5.1 was to get Tahoe-LAFS nicely packaged
for Debian/Ubuntu, Windows, and Macintosh.
Three weeks ago we had a successful Tahoe-LAFS Hacking Weekend [1] in
which quite a few people helped out and we made progress on the
Debian and Windows fronts.
I subsequently punted on the Mac packaging issues, moving them out of
the 1.5.1 Milestone [2] and into the 1.5.2 Milestone [3], since I
didn't have time to work on it.
We now appear to be on the verge of getting Tahoe-LAFS included in
Ubuntu Karmic Koala [4] and we are making progress on getting it
included in Debian sid.
Now, I would like to finish *something* and release it. Changes
since v1.5.0 will include a code refactoring that Brian committed
[4045], and probably the "servers of happiness" feature that Kevan is
working on [6] (especially if someone helps him finish the docs). It
will include lots of Debian/Ubuntu packaging work that has been done
by various people during the process of Koalification, and some
improved documentation for Windows thanks to Shawn Willden and David-
Sarah Hopwood. It *could* include one or two other small
improvements such as the ones tagged as "easy" [5].
So, this coming weekend is a long weekend -- I have Monday off of
work. On the other hand Sunday is Game Day At Chez O'Whielacronx.
But tomorrow (Friday) evening, and some parts of Saturday, and some
parts of Monday, I'll probably be on IRC trying to finish some of
these packaging issues for Tahoe-LAFS v1.5.1. (Hey, maybe Sunday
during Game Day, too. :-)) Please join me! It'll be a good time. :-)
Regards,
Zooko
