Folks:

I grepped our apache log files to find out how many unique IP
addresses had used "apt-get" on our debian repositories for different
debian distributions and architectures. These are *attempts* to
download. If they got a 404-not-found, they still get counted in this
list. The count starts April 12 (just before the Tahoe-LAFS v1.4
release) and goes until today.

If my scripts are counting the right things, the results are:

ARCH is i386 etch 21 feisty 0 gutsy 1 hardy 24 jaunty 0 lenny 1 sid 1
ARCH is amd64 etch 2 feisty 0 gutsy 0 hardy 4 jaunty 1 lenny 1 sid 0
ARCH is arm etch 0 feisty 0 gutsy 0 hardy 0 jaunty 0 lenny 1 sid 0
ARCH is solaris etch 0 feisty 0 gutsy 0 hardy 1 jaunty 0 lenny 0 sid 0

(Solaris?? That means a user of Nexenta tried using our
apt-repository. It wasn't me.)

Here is a count of how many people downloaded the various release tarballs:

allmydata-tahoe-1.4.1.zip 262
allmydata-tahoe-1.3.0.zip 109
allmydata-tahoe-1.2.0.tar.bz2 87
allmydata-tahoe-1.2.0.tar.gz 78
allmydata-tahoe-1.2.0.zip 45
allmydata-tahoe-1.4.1.tar.bz2 10
allmydata-tahoe-1.4.1.tar.gz 9
allmydata-tahoe-1.4.1-SUMO.zip 8
allmydata-tahoe-1.3.0.tar.gz 6
allmydata-tahoe-1.4.1-SUMO.tar.bz2 6
allmydata-tahoe-1.4.1-SUMO.tar.gz 5
allmydata-tahoe-1.3.0.tar.bz2 3
allmydata-tahoe-1.20.tar.bz2 1
allmydata-tahoe-tahoe-1.3.0.zip 1
allmydata-tahoe-1.4.1.zi 1

Note: The .zip files are the official way to download Tahoe-LAFS as
described on http://allmydata.org/source/tahoe/trunk/docs/install.html
. To use apt-get they would have to read the sentence at the bottom
of that page and follow the link and then search in text on the next
page for "debian". To get any of the other source tarballs other than
th
e .zip file, they would have to do similarly or else edit the URL
manually. (The last four filenames listed above are typos from
editing the URL manually.)

A .tar.gz source dist is also hosted on the Python Package Index:

http://pypi.python.org/pypi/allmydata-tahoe

At the moment, it says that it has been downloaded 130 times (but that
is counting downloads, not unique IP addresses).
